Dyersburg State cheerleaders play an important role in creating team spirit. Students compete for spots each year at try-outs and maintain a full schedule during basketball season from November to March. Larenda Fultz, Dean of Student Services, serves as the team sponsor. Coach Kate Thompson, owner of Rainbow Gymnastics and Cheer, provides cheer training and technique.
At your try-out, prospective cheerleaders will participate in an interview and receive an overview of the DSCC Cheer Program requirements. Participants will then work with Coach Thompson to learn and perform a cheer. They will have the opportunity to show off any special talent they would like to share.
