When head coach Robert White and his twin brother and assistant coach George White took over the program in 2003, the team was coming off a 7-48 season. Since then, the team has compiled a 242-154 record in seven seasons, including 147 wins the past four years. In the process, the DSCC baseball team has been nationally-ranked for the past three seasons while also finishing runner-up in Region VII during the 2009 campaign. With all of the success, over 60 former players have advanced to four-year programs. Besides searching for players with good fundamental baseball skills, Robert White says the secret to recruiting players is keeping the bigger picture in mind. “We look for players that are hard-nosed and relentless competitors,” White said. “We do not necessarily look for superstars. We like team players that are willing to do anything and everything it takes to win. The key to sending players to next level is their academics; without academics, student-athletes are limited where they can go after attending community college.” Of all the accomplishments, White says he is most proud of the winning record. “When I arrived at Dyersburg State, many people said it was impossible to win here. With all of the hard work that has been put in, it is definitely paying off.” Hotel Info for 2010 Travel Season | Where are they now?
