The American College Testing (ACT) exam is one of the requirements for most students applying for admission to Dyersburg State Community College. It is a college admission exam that consists of subject area tests in English, math, reading and science and includes multiple choice questions. It takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete including breaks. The DSCC Testing Center is one of many centers across the nation which regularly offers the ACT exam. The ACT Computerized Placement Assessment and Support System (COMPASS) test is administered to new students over the age of 21. It is designed to assist colleges in placing students into college-level courses or developmental courses as appropriate. It measures student performance in math, reading and writing. Dyersburg State Community College does not require a minimum ACT score for admission. Valid ACT scores will be used to determine course placement. Official Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores may be accepted in lieu of ACT scores for admission.
