.Adm Req for Non High School Graduate

Student Not Graduating from High School with a Regular (Standard) Diploma

Special Admission is available for individuals who are at least 21 years of age and did not graduate from high school with a regular or standard diploma and have not earned the GED. Special Admission students admitted in this category cannot work toward a degree and are not eligible for financial aid.  Admission will be granted to applicants who meet the following requirements:

-- Submit an Application for Admission (Apply Online).
A non-refundable $10 application fee will be assessed at the time of initial registration.

-- Take the entire Computerized Placement Assessment and Support System (ACT COMPASS) and enroll in any developmental studies courses as determined by his/her scores.

-- Submission of an official ACT score if the high school graduate is under the age of 21.

-- For first time degree-seeking students under the age of 21, course placement will be determined by ACT scores. If ACT scores are older than three years, the student will be required to re-take the ACT. First time students who are 21 years of age or older and are degree-seeking will be subject to taking the Computerized Placement Assessment and Support System test (COMPASS). Consult the DSCC Testing Center page on this Web site for a testing schedule.

-- Unless exempted under Tennessee Code Annotated, proof of immunization with two doses of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccines, administered on or after the first birthday, is required for attendance to all universities and colleges with an enrollment of greater than two hundred students. Non-exempt students who do not provide the required proof will be restricted to 11 credit hours.

-- The General Assembly of the State of Tennessee mandates that public or private postsecondary institutions provide information concerning Hepatitis B infection to all students matriculating for the first time. Tennessee law requires that such students complete and sign a waiver form that includes detailed information about the disease.
