Want to take courses at Dyersburg State? Here's how. Step 1. Apply. Click here for all the information you need about applying to DSCC. If you are a first-time or a readmitting student or if you are changing from non-degree status to degree-seeking status, you must complete an application for admission/readmission before advancing to Step 2. Also, your placement in courses - either by ACT scores or your performance on the ACT COMPASS - must be determined before you meet with an advisor. Step 2. Meet with an advisor. Need information about DSCC Advising Centers? Click here for Advising Center information. All degree-seeking students must meet with an advisor before enrolling in classes. Before scheduling an appointment to meet with an advisor, you must complete the following steps:
If you were not enrolled the past semester, you must complete an Application for Admission/Readmission. If you are a new student under 21 and plan to work toward a degree at DSCC, Admissions and Records must have your ACT scores (no older than three years). If you are a new student 21 or over and plan to work toward a degree at DSCC, you will need to take the ACT COMPASS. ACT and COMPASS scores are used to determine course placement and will be needed by the advisor who assists you.
Advising assistance is available at the advising centers. Subject to availability (normally May through July), DSCC’s Automated Advising Appointment System allows you to schedule an advising appointment at one of DSCC's main teaching locations. After you select an appointment date and time, the system will automatically send you a confirmation about your appointment.
Step 3. Register. After your application has been processed and (if you are a degree seeking student) you have met with your advisor, you may enroll for classes through our registration process. During registration periods, you enroll through our online registration system. Click here to register. For any registration, your User name and Password are the same as for online courses and for logging into the desktops on DSCC computers. If you don't know how to log in, call or contact the LRC Help Desk at 731/288-7780 or the One Stop Center at 731/286-3350 or the DSCC Gibson County Center at 731/855-1419 or the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County at 901/475-3100. The Spring 2010 schedule of classes contains useful information about the application and registration process; however, you will want to use the “Look up Classes” feature in Self Service Banner for information about classes for any term. The information in Look up Classes is always up-to-date and indicates if a class section is open or closed.
Consult the 2009/2010 DSCC Catalog and Student Handbook for information about DSCC course descriptions and programs of study. Step 4. Pay. Click here to find cost and payment information. Need financial assistance to pay for courses? Check out our financial aid information by clicking here. There is also a "Ways to Pay" instruction sheet in the folder at the right for you to print out and use as a reference.
Step 5. Confirm. Protect your schedule of classes by confirming enrollment after you register. Here's how: 1. At www.dscc.edu, click MyDSCC. 2. Log in with your User name and Password. 3. Click on the Student Tab. 4. Under Registration Tools, click on Enrollment Confirmation/Payment of Fees. 5. Select your Term of enrollment; then click submit. 6. If you will be attending, Click on Yes, I will attend during [TERM]. Wait for a confirmation number. 7. If you do not get a confirmation number, this means you have a balance due and the system will automatically re-direct you to your student account activity page. Students with partial financial aid are not considered confirmed until the balance is paid in full or until enrollment in the Deferred Payment Plan has been completed and the appropriate deferred payment is made.
If you register for Spring classes, you must pay/confirm fees by January 4 so that you don't lose your classes. For more information, click Paying/Confirming for Spring 2010. |
