Dear LPN:
Thank you for your interest in the Advanced Standing LPN-RN Fast Track Program at Dyersburg State Community College. The Fast Track Program is a grant subsidized program that is offered based upon grant funding. The program is an evening week-end program for LPNs with a current TN license.
To be considered for the Fast Track program, you must first apply for admission to the College or readmission if you have previously taken courses at DSCC. There is no fee for readmission. The College application can be downloaded from the DSCC homepage (www.dscc.edu ). If you have previous college course work from other colleges or universities, you need to request transcripts be sent to DSCC along with your transcript from high school. If you do not have college course work, you will be required to take the COMPASS test if you are over 21 years of age, and the ACT if you are under the age of 21. You will also need to send a copy of your LPN program transcript and current LPN license to the Division of Nursing.
To be eligible for the Fast Track program you must meet the college and the nursing division admission requirements. The nursing admission requirements can be found on the nursing web site under LPN-RN Fast Track. Key admission criteria includes: completion of all college preparatory course work, and a score of 75% or higher on the National League of Nursing - Acceleration Challenge Exam (ACE). The ACE may be taken a total of two times at least one calendar year apart. The information on the test is based on what you have learned in LPN school and nursing practice. Several prospective students have asked when the next Fast Track program will be offered. We recently received notification of our selection for continued funding. The next class will be offered on the Dyersburg campus January, 2011 with anticipated graduation May 2012. We are extremely excited to be able to provide this program for LPNs in our region. In preparation for admission, please read the Admission Requirements carefully and complete prerequisites as required. Candidates who have not met the requirements for admission to the College or the Nursing program will not be considered for admission.
The next testing dates for the (ACE) are July 28th at the JNC in Covington, and July 29th at the Dyersburg campus. These will be the last testing dates prior to the January admission. The cost of the test is $60.00, and must be paid at the DSCC Business Office (Dyersburg or Covington) by July 14th. Students who have not prepaid will not be permitted to test. After you have paid, please call Ms. Cherry at 901-476-3182 or Ms. Privett at 731-286-3390 to register. A list of test registrants will be kept at both offices. Test fees are non-refundable.
