Emergency Medical Technician Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a two-semester program. EMT 101 is seven credit hours. EMT 102 is eight credit hours. EMT consists of 240 hours of education, with 48 hours in a clinical setting. The courses must be taken concurrent in the same year.
Upon successful completion of these courses and a passing score on the state examination, the participant may apply for state licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician. The student must be 18 years of age and possess a regular or Honors high school diploma or a GED. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is mandatory for the course.
