Death only walks among the Living.

At the reception to celebrate the permanent display at the college of our paintings I approached two women who were discussing this picture and I overheard one saying; "See. They are the jokers." She was pointing to the two faces at the pinnacle of the keyhole's aperture, (or top of the skull's snout). I had thought the drawing delineated the theme of chance in Christian and Arabian cultures when I painted it but I hadn't recognized the jokers.
