Dyersburg State Community College President Karen Bowyer has named Doug Teague as the new Director of the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County. Teague currently serves as the Dean of Business and Technology at DSCC and previously served as Interim Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. Teague’s new position was effective May 11 upon the retirement of Center Director Janet Newman. Teague will continue to act as the Dean of Business and Technology as he assumes the JNC Directorship. Rene Stanley, DSCC Instructor of Health Information Technology, will assume the role of Coordinator of Business and Technology to assist Teague in the management of the Division. “I am very pleased to have this opportunity to work with the Jimmy Naifeh Center. Dyersburg State Community College is growing in enrollment and involvement in each community in which we have a presence. We are hopeful that we may be able to use this opportunity to place greater emphasis on growth and service in Tipton County,†said Teague. Teague has 25 years of teaching experience and has been at Dyersburg State since the Fall of 2007. Teague has a Bachelor of Science from Lambuth University and Master of Business Administration from the University of Memphis. A resident of Jackson, Teague and his wife Leona are active at their church where he teaches an adult class. Newman, whose final day was May 11, began her work with Dyersburg State as the Tipton County Program Coordinator in the college’s Division of Extension Service in April of 1990. During her 19 years with the college, she saw the Center grow from an idea to a leased facility downtown to its present two-building campus. Newman has received numerous awards for her work in promoting higher education.
