Dyersburg State hosts golf tournament to support DSCC Athletics "We plan to make this the best tournament ever!" said DSCC Dean of Students and Tournament Coordinator Larry Chapman. "We started our planning way back in April so that we could build on last year's great success." This year's tournament will be held at The Farms Golf Club on Saturday, August 1. Play begins at 8:00 A.M., and the overall winning team takes home The College Cup. The crystal trophy rotates each year and was awarded to the team of Roger McBride, Danny Willis, Greg Crihfield and Jerry Crihfield representing Lauderdale County Bank in 2008. As an incentive, those who register to play and pay by 3:00 P.M. on Friday, July 24 will have a chance to win a John Deere JS 45 walk-behind lawn mower donated by Briggs & Stratton, valued at over $500. Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place teams in two flights! DSCC President Karen Bowyer will serve as the celebrity putter, and First Citizens Financial Plus is hosting a putting contest. Attorney John Lannom of Dyersburg is serving as this 2009 Tournament Director. Each year Dyersburg State Community College hosts this fund and friend raiser to support the DSCC's athletic programs. Cheerleaders, baseball players, softball players and basketball players will all be on hand to assist golfers. A buffet lunch will be served at the conclusion of play. Registration forms for the tournament are available at The Farms Pro Shop. For more information please contact DSCC's Office of Institutional Advancement at 731/286-3349 or e-mail clay@dscc.edu.
