Play taking place November 19-21
The Dyersburg State Community College Theatre Department presents Tuesdays with Morrie written by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom. The play is based on the book of the same title by Albom, and was also made into a film starring Jack Lemmon and Hank Azaria.
The play is based on the real life story of sportswriter Mitch Albom and his relationship with his favorite college professor Morrie Schwartz. Morrie has become somewhat of a celebrity in his own right, by writing about life and now death. Mitch had lost touch with Morrie, but late one night as he is flipping through the channels, Mitch hears Ted Koppel mention that Morrie has ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease. This prompts a visit from Mitch. The one visit turning into many -- all taking place on Tuesdays.
Members of the cast of the DSCC Theatre Production are Dyersburg residents Bobby Solmon as Morrie Schwartz, and Chris McLain as Mitch Albom. Crew members include: Devan Jacobi, stage manager; Mark Brown, assistant stage manager and props master; Stephen Safaeih , sound; Tabetha Fournier, lights; and Lizzy Reaves, costumes. All are from Dyersburg. Back stage grips are Tina Fogarty of Newbern and Anthony Gooch of Dyersburg.
The play will be presented in the First Citizens National Bank Auditorium of the Campus Activities Building on the Dyersburg campus on November 19 – 21 at 7:30 each evening. Tickets are available only at the door; admission cost is $4.00 for students, faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $6.00 for all others.
