The Accuplacer® exam is designed to assess the academic skills needed for success in college for students 21 and over. The Accuplacer exam is NOT timed. There is no fee for taking the exam for DSCC applicants. Accuplacer tests your academic preparation in three areas: Reading Comprehension, Elementary Algebra, and Sentence Skills. Scores and placement results will be discussed immediately at the conclusion of the Accuplacer exam with each individual student.
For additional Accuplacer information, tutorial resources, and sample tests, go to www.accuplacer.org. Click on the "Information for Students" tab at the bottom of the page. This will provide free practice materials, an Accuplacer Study App, and a "Look Inside the Test." Be sure to use "classic" Reading Comprehension, Elementary Algebra, and Sentence Skills when using these resources.
The DSCC Student Success Center offers a "Brush-up" session to prepare students to take the Accuplacer exam. The "Brush-up" session is recommended for all students who are required to take the Accuplacer for placement. The contact person in the Student Success Center is Shirley Smith at 731-286-3219.
Accuplacer testing dates and times for all three DSCC locations are posted in Appointment Plus on DSCC's website. If you have questions or need assistance making a testing appointment, call the DSCC Testing Center.
