Students interested in pursuing a degree in History will be equipped to further their education and job opportunities in a variety of career fields.
The History emphasis (Tennessee Transfer Pathway) is designed to provide the student with the first two years of academic training necessary to complete a degree in History at a four-year college or university. Two options exist for History. A student can choice between an Associate of Arts (AA) and an Associate of Science (AS) and should consult with the four-year college or university to determine the correct path for them. DSCC offers dual admission opportunities with several universities.
Typical jobs: teacher, careers in law, journalism, public relations, domestic and foreign government service after obtaining a bachelor's degree.
Note: During the sophomore year, all students planning to teach should meet the PRAXIS Core Academic Skills for Educators or ACT testing requirements for their transfer institution.
