The DSCC Media Club entered USA TODAY's 30th anniversary, nation-wide, photography competition for college and universities. To participate, the club members took a photo with USA TODAY’s Sept. 14-16 edition and submitted it to the newspaper for consideration. On September 20, the club was notified that the photo it submitted was not only one of the 30 winning images, but that the image was also being used in additional promotions.

"Your group's picture was passed around the company and people loved it. They loved it so much that it was shared on USA TODAY's main Instragram feed. 'Check it out!' " wrote Suzanne Lipscomb, GANNETT Publishing Services sales operations project manager. The photo was also featured in a collage on the USA TODAY College Facebook page.
The DSCC Media Club was formed in 2011 and promotes quality media journalistic skills, integrity and teamwork. Students are provided opportunities to serve DSCC and the community in the field of mass media and are provided first-hand experience in working on video projects both independently and in a group effort. The staff advisor is Paul Stringham. He can be contacted at 731/286-3227 or stringham@dscc.edu
