Section 3: Comprehensive Standard 3.2.1
The governing board of the institution is responsible for the selection and the periodic evaluation of the chief executive officer.
Statement of Compliance: Dyersburg State Community College is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.2.1.
Rationale for Judgment of Compliance:
Tennessee state law charges the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) with the responsibility of electing and employing the chief executive officers of the institutions under its governance [Ref 1]. TBR policy directs the Board’s process in selecting and employing institutional presidents [Ref 2].
The TBR Chancellor conducts annual evaluations of the DSCC President, including the “accomplishment of annual objectives,” “demonstrated ability of the President to serve as the leader of a campus community,” and “commitment of the President to the institution and the System, and to the implementation of Board policies” [Ref 3]. As part of the evaluation process, each year the Chancellor requests the President to establish goals and provide a status report at the end of the year. A formal meeting is held to discuss the evaluation [Ref 4] [Ref 5] [Ref 6] [Ref 7].
