Section 3: Comprehensive Standard 3.4.11
For each major in a degree program, the institution assigns responsibility for program coordination, as well as for curriculum development and review, to persons academically qualified in the field. In those degree programs for which the institution does not identify a major, this requirement applies to a curricular area or concentration.

Statement of Compliance: Dyersburg State Community College is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.4.11.

Rationale for Judgment of Compliance:

For each degree program, Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) assigns responsibility for program coordination, as well as for curriculum development and review, to persons academically qualified in the field.

The Vice President for the College is responsible for program coordination as well as curriculum development and review [Ref 1] [Ref 2]. Three division deans comprise the instructional administrative staff reporting to the Vice President for the College. Each dean heads one of the major academic divisions—Arts and Sciences, Business and Technology and Nursing and Allied Health—and is academically qualified because of education, experience, and understanding of the mission, policies and procedures of the College to provide program coordination and curriculum development and review [Ref 3] [Ref 4] [Ref 5] [Ref 6] [Ref 7] [Ref 8]. Academic deans are assisted by coordinators or directors in the areas of Developmental Studies, English, College Experience, Science, Mathematics, Health Information Technology, Center of Emphasis and Academic Advising [Ref 9] [Ref 10] [Ref 11] [Ref 12] [Ref 13] [Ref 14] [Ref 15] [Ref 16] [Ref 17] [Ref 18] [Ref 19] [Ref 20] [Ref 21] [Ref 22] [Ref 23] [Ref 24] [Ref 25] [Ref 26] [Ref 27] [Ref 28] [Ref 29] [Ref 30] [Ref 31]. Each institution in the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) system receives additional funding to develop a "Center of Emphasis." The focus of DSCC’s Center of Emphasis is computer information technology.

Program and curriculum changes are primarily initiated by academically qualified full-time faculty and channeled through the deans. The one exception is the Early Childhood Education Program, an AAS degree and Technical Certificate Program within the Arts and Sciences Division. This program is coordinated by the Coordinator of the Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) [Ref 32] [Ref 33], who reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
