Introduction, Description and Site Plan
Welcome
Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is pleased to welcome you to its electronic SACS reaffirmation site. It is a privilege to share this site with readers on the review committees and, later, with colleagues who are beginning the reaffirmation process. This study has been extraordinarily beneficial to all of us at DSCC. The Compliance Certification process has enabled us to learn a great deal about ourselves, has helped us to appreciate our strengths, and has showed us weaknesses on which to focus. When complete, our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) will provide a blueprint for improving learning in the area students find most difficult: mathematics. If our QEP is on target, DSCC will be able to graduate more learners who are better prepared for the future. Accreditation study is the ultimate professional experience because it is comprehensive, collegial, and personally and professionally challenging. While the work is arduous, those who have been most directly involved have been the beneficiaries. Most importantly, the quality of the education students receive at DSCC will be greatly improved.
DSCC’s Compliance Certification addresses the principles in the 2007 Interim Edition of Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement. We feel these standards reflect the spirit of continuous improvement so characteristic of the work of the Commission on Colleges.
