The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) two-year and four-year institutions developed the K-5 emphasis for the Associate of Science in TEACHING Degree to ensure a seamless transfer among the 19 TBR institutions of higher education. This emphasis is common among all TBR institutions and is considered as fulfilling the coursework for the freshman and sophomore years at those institutions. This emphasis also fulfills the requirements for the first two years of the K-6 Integrated Studies degree at the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM).
