Dr. Karen Bowyer, president of Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC), was inducted into the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) Hall of Fame Nov. 5. On hand for the presentation was Dr. Foster Chason, TCCAA commissioner. Dr. Bowyer was recognized for her unwavering support of community college athletics over the past 35 years of her tenure at DSCC. She is the seventh college president since 1968 and the first woman president to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. “It’s leadership such as what Dr. Bowyer provided for the national level as well as our conference and state level that is outstanding and unprecedented in terms of all the different offices she has touched,” stated Dr. Chason. “Dr. Bowyer is indeed a true leader and I personally appreciate her as I know we are moving forward because of efforts such as hers.”
