Can I work at my own pace or do I need to follow a class schedule?
FAQ Answer: Online courses follow the same schedule as traditional courses. These are not self-paced courses. Students follow an outline of topics, turn in assignments and take exams on dates scheduled in the course by the instructor. For example, an instructor makes an assignment due on July 8th. The student may work on the assignment any time (night or day). As long as the student turns the completed assignment in by July 8th, the student has met the instructor's expectations.
Can I access my DSCC eLearn (D2L) course(s) from home?
FAQ Answer: Yes, provided you have Internet access at home. In fact, you can access your DSCC eLearn courses from any computer anywhere provided it has an Internet connection.

FAQ Answer: Pop-up blockers can stop you from using several DSCC eLearn (D2L) tools correctly. Pop-up blocking functions are included in some anti-virus, internet security, personal firewall, and toolbar browser programs (such as Google and Yahoo toolbar). Even Windows XP Service Pack (SP2) includes a popup blocker for Internet Explorer 6. This feature can potentially cause problems with DSCC eLearn (D2L). To adjust the pop-up blocker settings in Internet Explorer, 1) Click on Internet Explorer 2) Click on the Tools tab at the top of the page to open a drop down menu, 3) click on Pop-up Blocker, 4) click on Pop-Up Blocker Settings. This will allow you to add this site to your browser. For technical assistance with online classes, contact the LRC Help Desk at 731-288-7780 in Dyersburg or 901-475-3177 in Covington or 731-222-5180 in Trenton. You may also contact the Help Desk by e-mail at helpdesk@dscc.edu.
What is an Access Code?
FAQ Answer: A Student Access Code is a series of letters and numbers that allow you to access course content (called an e-Pack) selected by your instructor. Student Access Codes are often confused with MyDSCC IDs or DSCC eLearn (D2L) IDs, but they are not the same. If you are having trouble with your Access Code, please contact your instructor.
When I click on my Instructors attachment (like a PowerPoint presentation), I cannot open it. Why?
FAQ Answer: To open non-webpage (html) attachments, you need to have that program installed on the computer where you are trying to open it. If you are opening a PowerPoint file, you need to have PowerPoint or PowerPoint Viewer installed on your computer. If you need access to a computer with Microsoft Office, you can visit one of the campus labs. For technical assistance with online classes, contact the LRC Help Desk at 731-288-7780 in Dyersburg or 901-475-3177 in Covington or 731-222-5180 in Trenton. Why aren't all my courses available in DSCC eLearn?
FAQ Answer: Access to courses inside DSCC eLearn (D2L) is available to students on the first day of class. If the semester has officially begun and you still do not have access, make sure you are still enrolled in the course. Nonpayment and other holds could be preventing you from accessing your course. Please contact the Business Office at 731.286.3306 for questions regarding the payment of fees or holds.
Can I send DSCC eLearn (D2L) email to people in another DSCC eLearn (D2L) class or to people's personal email accounts?
FAQ Answer: No: DSCC eLearn (D2L) email stays within the DSCC eLearn environment and is not the same as a student's school email or personal email accounts. A student can email the instructor and anyone else in the class, but cannot email outside of the class.

FAQ Answer: It is very important that you complete a course evaluation at the end of each semester. Your instructor will provide you with a link to an online evaluation. When you submit the evaluation, it goes to a database in the Distance Education office and your evaluation is anonymous.
