What can I do to better my chances of getting into the nursing program?
FAQ Answer:
The best advice is to do well in all of your classes. Your GPA is calculated based on the nursing general education core curriculum only. It is a competitive program and the better grades that you have, the better your chance at being accepted.
How do I access the nursing packets on-line?
FAQ Answer: Go to www.DSCC.edu and choose “Programs” from the headings at the top of the page. There will be links to the nursing programs under the Health Science section.
Which nursing admission exam do I take? Traditional RN or Fast Track Nursing Program?
FAQ Answer: The Division for Nursing requires the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) at the admissions exam for all three nursing tracks. The TEAS must be taken at DSCC and the score is good for three (3) years.
What is the minimal score you can make on the TEAS to get into the program?
FAQ Answer: DSCC does not have a pass or fail score for the TEAS. However, the higher the score, the more points you accumulate toward your total points for admission.
How often is the LPN-RN Fast Track Program offered?
FAQ Answer: The LPN-RN Fast Track program is offered yearly with classes beginning in May. It is a one year program that will complete in May of the following year. The campus location is Dyersburg. To get the most recent information regarding this program, you may access information on the DSCC website at www.dscc.edu under Programs.
How can I transfer to the DSCC Nursing program if I am already attending another nursing program elsewhere?
FAQ Answer: Submit a written request for transfer along with a letter of recommendation from the director of the previous nursing program verifying your good standing to the Nursing Admission and Retention Committee.
Submit all official transcripts and appropriate course descriptions from the previous school of nursing. Nursing courses will be evaluated on an individual basis. Transfer admission is based upon space availability. You must also meet the same requirements as students seeking readmission. See the "Readmission and Transfer into the Nursing Program" section in the college catalog.
Why can't I print in the LRC?
FAQ Answer: Each student is given 450 sheets per semester to use for printing. If you have used all of your available prints , you will need to purchase more sheets at the Business Office on the Dyersburg Campus or an off-campus center office. Cost is 10 cents per sheet. If you still have prints available and cannot print , contact the DSCC Business Office front desk at 286-3310. Members of the community are also allowed to use the printers in the Learning Resource Center: the cost is 10 cents per sheet and may be purchased at the Help Desk in the Learning Resource Center.
I will be enrolling in a Dual Enrollment course. How much will I owe?
FAQ Answer: You may be eligible to receive funds through the Dual Enrollment Grant. This amount will vary, depending on the number of credit hours you previously took, current enrollment, the teaching format, and location.
How do I pay my fees?
FAQ Answer: Once you have registered, you must make all your financial arrangements through the DSCC Business Office. You must pay for classes (or make financial arrangements) before the payment due date to reserve your seat in the class. You may pay your fees in person, by mail or online. Select the Paying for College tab on the www.dscc.edu website to see how to pay instructions, as well as, financial assistance options.
How do you apply for a Book Voucher?
FAQ Answer:
If you have a credit (-) balance on your student account, have confirmed your enrollment and electronically submit a completed Book Voucher Application before 2 p.m. on a school day, your voucher will be processed and available the same business day. Applications submitted after 2 p.m. on a school day and anytime on the weekend will not be processed until the following business day.
- Login to MyDSCC.
- Log in with your unique Username and Password.
- Click on the Student Tab.
- Under Registration Tools, complete Confirming Enrollment by clicking Payment of Fees/Confirmation of Enrollment.
- In the same box, click on Book Voucher Form.
- A box will open directing you to the Book Voucher.
- Enter your current phone number and address.
- Read the terms and conditions of the book voucher, and click Next.
- Read the instructions regarding the electronic signature.
- Enter your name exactly as it appears on your form, and click Sign Electronically. You may choose to opt out and print the form. If you choose to opt out, additional instructions will be provided.
You will be notified via email to your MyDSCC address when your Book Voucher has been processed. Check your MyDSCC email regularly as this is the method used by DSCC to relay important information to you.
