Pharmacy Technician

This course is designed to train students to obtain entry-level postilions in the Pharmacy Technician industry. It teaches students basic pharmacology, measurement and calculating techniques, pharmaceutical abbreviations, terminology and classification, preparations of unit dose packaging, preparation and delivery of medications, inventory control, legal and ethical responsibilities, clerical skills, and customer service. Upon completion of the course, the student will be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. 


Critical Care Paramedic

A critical patient is one that will die without continuous monitoring and interventions. As a result of recognizing the need for critical care level providers, there is now an endorsement as a Critical Care Paramedic. This course prepares paramedics to provide advanced critical care during inter-facility transports and to deliver invasive care beyond the standard scope of advanced pre-hospital care. The course consist of 150-hour classroom and clinical training, and it is approved by the Tennessee EMS Board. 


EMT, AEMT and Paramedic Refresher

An Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic Refresher Course is offered by DSCC once a year in the Spring term to help meet the CEU requirements of all three levels of EMS for licensure renewal. The class is held in a 8-hour day format from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EMTs will attend class for a total of 20 hours, AEMTs will attend class days for a total of 25 hours, and Paramedics will attend class for a total of 32 hours. Upon completion of the course, each student will receive a certificate for the appropriate number of CEUs.
