Charles Taylor

Charles Taylor, also known as "Coach Charles," enters his second season as head coach of the Dyersburg State Community College Lady Eagles Basketball team. He has two years of experience as an assistant coach to the DSCC men's program under the direction of athletic director and head men's basketball coach Alan Barnett. Coach Charles is no stranger to the program beginning his college career as the starting point guard for the DSCC Eagles back in 2000. He has also provided quality players to the men's program since 2002 always giving a helping hand to Alan Barnett and the DSCC basketball program.

Coach Charles' experience as a trainer and coach dates back to the mid 90's. He's trained the number 1 ranked girl's player in the country, a top 50 player in ESPN 100 (Caleb Brown) who currently plays professional basketball in Brazil. He has also trained players who had NBA tryouts as well as community college and university basketball scholarship opportunities.

Charles Taylor has both bachelor and master degrees in piano performance and minor in organ from the University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Charles is married to Alexandria Taylor. They have three children: Ciara, Camren and Caden.

Coach Charles looks forward to leading the Lady Eagles by developing player character, building a quality women's basketball program and increasing the graduation rates while competing at an elite level in NJCAA's Region VII conference (TCCAA). His goal as head coach is to afford DSCC student-athletes the opportunity to move on to four year institutions by way of basketball scholarships.
