Applying for Financial Aid

DSCC encourages students to begin the financial aid process as early as possible.  The information below provides details about the application process.

1.  Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

2Apply for a FSA ID to complete the FAFSA.

  • This will allow you to access, complete, and electronically sign your FAFSA, to view the status and results of your processed FAFSA, and to make corrections to your Student Aid Report.
  • Be sure to keep your FSA ID in a safe place. Parents and students must have their own FSA ID.

3.  Submit all documents requested by the Office of Financial Aid as soon as possible.

  • You can check the status of your financial aid application at any time by logging into MyDSCC and checking your outstanding financial aid requirements.
  • Applicants who are selected for verification should review the verification requirements.

4.  To receive financial aid DSCC, you must be admitted as a student in a financial aid eligible program.

  • Your requirements for admission to DSCC depend on your most recent educational experience. View the admission requirements and apply for admission.
  • All admission requirements must be complete prior to financial aid disbursement.

5.  Review your Financial Aid Award Notice.

  • Once you have completed and submitted all required paperwork, the Office of Financial Aid will determine what types of aid you can receive and how much you can get. You will receive an award letter by mail and email via your MyDSCC email account.
  • Carefully read your award letter, as it provides information regarding financial aid eligibility and the procedures for receiving financial aid and/or applying for certain financial programs, such as student loans.
  • If you plan to take out a student loan, you must complete the entire student loan application
