Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is excited to host an art exhibition featuring the work of Arkansas watercolorist Frank Ferguson. The exhibit, Dear Friends and Dear Places, is open to the public through January 2, 2026, inside the Learning Resource Center’s Ripley Power and Light Lobby at the Jimmy Naifeh Center.

This exhibit was made possible through a partnership between DSCC, the Tipton Art League, and Liberty Vintage Marketplace and Studio in Covington. A public artist reception will be held on Monday, November 3, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., during which visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist.

Frank Ferguson, a retired school administrator from Arkansas, began painting in 2019 after observing his granddaughter experiment with watercolor techniques. Captivated by the movement of paint through water, he soon developed a passion for the medium. His collection now encompasses a wide range of subjects, including still life, animals, landscapes, and imaginative interpretations of everyday scenes.

During his artistic journey, Ferguson studied under and drew inspiration from noted watercolorists such as Juanita Yoder, Birgit O’Connor, and Richard Stephens. His artwork is in private collections across the United States, including California, Florida, New York, Illinois, Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Moonarker Studios and Gallery in Monticello, Arkansas, currently represent him.

The Tipton Art League supports and develops artists of all experience levels through workshops, exhibits, demonstrations, and continuing education opportunities. The League also enriches the local community by promoting the display of original fine art in public venues.
