Dyersburg State Community College proudly recognized its top student-athletes and celebrated its coaches and teams of the 2025–2026 athletic season during its annual athletic banquet held on April 26 at the Dyersburg campus.

The athletic banquet celebrated the College’s athletic programs and honored student-athletes who demonstrated outstanding performance, leadership, and commitment throughout the year, both on the field and in the classroom.

Leading the honors, Rebecca Wood (Women’s Basketball) was named Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year, while Isaiah Claybrooks (Men’s Basketball) earned Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year recognition for their exceptional contributions to Dyersburg State Athletics.

“We are very proud of our student-athletes and the work they put in day after day and are very thankful for a staff and administration that support them along the way,” shared Steve Cornelison, director of athletics.

These awards recognize not only the athletic capabilities of our student athletes, but also the commitment and character they bring to Dyersburg State and the growing standard. The following sport-specific honors are listed below.

Women’s Soccer

  • Freshman of the Year: Presley Braun
  • Sophomore of the Year: Layla Olson

Volleyball

  • Freshman of the Year: Christiana Carter
  • Sophomore of the Year: Katelynn Cotton

Women’s Cross Country

  • Freshman of the Year: Kelvia Campbell
  • Sophomore of the Year: Rebecca Wood

Men’s Cross Country

  • Freshman of the Year: Ty Durst

Women’s Basketball

  • Freshman of the Year: Kelvia Campbell
  • Sophomore of the Year: Rebecca Wood

Men’s Basketball

  • Freshman of the Year: Deston Christian
  • Sophomore of the Year: Isaiah Claybrooks

Softball

  • Freshman of the Year resulted in a three-way tie: Brooklyn Davidson, Jaz Watkins, & Ella Chilton
  • Sophomore of the Year: Madyson Lanier

Baseball

  • Freshman of the Year: Jordan Williamson
  • Sophomore of the Year: Kayden Hartunian

“At Dyersburg State, we take great pride in developing student-athletes who excel not only in competition, but in character, leadership, and academic achievement. These honorees represent the very best of our institution, and we are incredibly proud of the standard they continue to set for our athletic programs and our college community,” shared Dr. Amanda Walker, vice president of external affairs.

Dyersburg State Athletics also recognized the contributions of the administration and members of Cabinet, Gameday Staff, and College Staff, including the college departments of External Affairs, Information Technology, Facilities, and the DSCC Police Department, for their support throughout the athletic season.
