The Edge Masterclass: A Mini-MBA in Real-World Leadership successfully completed its inaugural session at the Jimmy Naifeh Center (JNC), with 12 students finishing the program.
The Edge Masterclass is an accelerated, 30-hour alternative to a traditional MBA or certificate program, designed to deliver practical, real-world leadership skills in a flexible, five-month format. Through scenario-based learning, hands-on projects, and insights from CEOs and community leaders, participants gain immediately applicable business knowledge drawn from top leadership books and concepts. Built for busy professionals, students, and aspiring leaders, the program emphasizes interactive learning, skill development, and career-ready experience—without the time or cost of a traditional graduate degree.
“After finishing the Edge Masterclass course as the instructor, the results were more than I anticipated,” said instructor Oliver Smith. “I was surprised and encouraged by how hungry the business community is for leadership skills and business ideas to help propel their companies forward. Everyone was highly engaged and offered great insights that benefited the entire group, including me. I would encourage any business owners, leaders, supervisors, and managers to consider taking this course as soon as possible. The content and skills you gain will propel you years ahead in growth opportunities.”
Participant Eriq Jordan of Workwear Outfitters in Covington also praised the program’s impact. “The EDGE Masterclass did more than provide information—it built confidence, sharpened skills, and inspired growth,” Jordan said. “It exceeded expectations in every way and truly lived up to its name. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to elevate themselves both personally and professionally. Dyersburg State has set a high standard with this offering.”
The course will be offered again this fall at two locations: Tuesday evenings at JNC in Covington from September 8 through November 17, and Thursday evenings on the Dyersburg campus from September 10 through November 12. The 30-hour program costs $1,875. For more information, please contact Darrin Devault, Director of Workforce Development, at 731-286-3265 or ddevault@dscc.edu.
