The Culinary Arts Department at Dyersburg State Community College is committed to providing students with a comprehensive, industry-focused education that prepares them for successful careers in the culinary and hospitality fields. Program Mission

The mission of the Culinary Arts Program at Dyersburg State Community College is to provide students with a comprehensive, high-quality culinary education that prepares them for successful careers in the culinary, food service, and hospitality industries while fostering personal growth, professional development, and lifelong learning. The program is committed to developing skilled, knowledgeable, and ethical culinary professionals through a balanced approach that combines classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, and hands-on application of industry standards and practices.



Culinary Arts A.A.S.

The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Culinary Arts at Dyersburg State Community College is designed to prepare students for rewarding careers in the culinary, food service, and hospitality industries through a combination of academic instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, and practical application of industry standards. The program provides students with a strong foundation in culinary techniques, food preparation, baking and pastry fundamentals, nutrition, menu development, food safety and sanitation, cost control, purchasing, and restaurant operations. Students develop the technical skills and professional competencies necessary to work effectively in a variety of culinary settings, including restaurants, hotels, resorts, catering operations, healthcare facilities, institutional food services, and entrepreneurship ventures.
