DSCC Workforce Development to Host October OSHA 10-Hour Training Course in Covington

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Workforce Development will host an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour General Industry Training Course on October 19-20 at the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center, Room C104, in Covington.

Designed for entry-level workers, the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry course provides essential workplace safety training and helps participants recognize, prevent, and avoid common job-related health and safety hazards. The training will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day at the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center, 3149 Highway 51 South, Covington, Tennessee. The cost of the course is $129 per participant. OSHA 10 training is beneficial for individuals entering industries such as construction, manufacturing, warehousing, and health care. Course topics include basic workplace safety regulations, employer responsibilities, employee rights, hazard recognition, and the process for filing workplace safety complaints. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an official OSHA 10 card issued by the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as a certificate of completion from DSCC Workforce Development.

The course will be instructed by Charles Jenkins, who holds an associate degree in health sciences from DSCC and a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama.
