Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Workforce Development will host an entry-level safety training program Oct. 20-29 designed to help workers identify, prevent, and avoid common job-related health and safety hazards. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour General Industry training course will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the DSCC main campus, located at 1510 Lake Road in Dyersburg.

OSHA 10 is designed for entry-level workers in industries such as construction, manufacturing, warehousing, and health care. The course covers basic workplace safety principles, employer responsibilities, and the process of filing a safety complaint. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive an official OSHA 10 card from the U.S. Department of Labor and a certificate of completion from DSCC Workforce Development.
The course will be taught by Joe Crews, an authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer since 2012. Crews is a licensed attorney with expertise in employment law, workplace safety, and workers’ compensation matters. With more than 25 years of manufacturing experience, he has maintained a strong focus on fostering safe, compliant work environments.
Crews holds a Bachelor of Science in business management, a Master of Science in human resource management, and a Juris Doctor degree. His combination of legal expertise, human resources leadership, and operational experience provides a comprehensive perspective on workplace safety, compliance, and employee relations.
