Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Workforce Development will offer an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) course in Covington, Tennessee, on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The course will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center, Room C104, located at 3149 Highway 51 S. The fee is $69. Online registration is available at https://bit.ly/4yZgVGZ. Registration is limited to nine participants.
The course is designed to provide participants with essential lifesaving skills needed to respond confidently in emergency situations. Instruction will focus on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for infants, children, and adults, as well as the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). The course is appropriate for healthcare professionals and first responders seeking initial certification or recertification.
“The ability to respond quickly and effectively during a medical emergency can make a significant difference in outcomes,” said Darrin Devault, director of DSCC Workforce Development. “This course equips participants with practical knowledge and hands-on skills that can help save lives.”
The course will be taught by Charles Jenkins, who earned an associate degree in health sciences from DSCC and a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama.
The Department of Workforce Development at DSCC provides learning opportunities through certificate programs, customized workforce training, personal enrichment courses, and youth programs.
