Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) will host an artist reception for Ms. Rachel Suratt on Thursday, February 1, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The reception will be held at the Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County inside the Learning Resource Center’s Ripley Power and Light lobby.

Rachel Suratt is an artist who grew up in Memphis and started drawing at the age of 12. She attended art classes at White Station High School and after graduating, she married and moved to Mississippi where she raised two children. Her busy family life didn’t allow much time for art. However, after eight years in Mississippi, she moved to Brighton where she was able to explore her creative side. Self-taught, Rachel enjoys photography, creating crafts, and fine art. Suratt has won several awards for her paintings and photographs. Surratt enjoys painting in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. She is a member of the Tipton Art League and teaches art to the Tipton County 4-H Expressionists.

The exhibit is currently on display inside the Learning Resource Center’s Ripley Power and Light lobby at the Jimmy Naifeh Center through March 31. The exhibit and reception is free and open to the public.
