Mrs. Warren (Eleanor) Nunn (1940-2022) of Halls, Tennessee, loved giving back to her West Tennessee community and to people both young and old. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a treasured friend to many. She enjoyed helping those in need, which included deserving students at Dyersburg State Community College. She treasured her time outdoors, gardening, feeding wildlife and listening to the birds. In her spare time, she would help her friend Charlene in her shops nearby.
Eleanor graduated in 1958 from Immaculate Conception High School at the Cathedral in Memphis. She continued her education at Memphis State University (University of Memphis since 1990) where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education in the 1960s. Her experiences at the University led her to being a lifelong Memphis State Tigers fan!
After being licensed as a teacher, she shared her many teaching gifts with students at Denver Elementary School in Frayser, Tennessee, and with the youth in schools in Atlanta, Georgia and Halls, Tennessee. After moving to Halls, TN with Warren she worked as a substitute teacher in the Halls Schools System and was an active volunteer and member of the Halls Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
Eleanor was raised by her parents, Dr. James Nicholas Etteldorf and Eleanor Bizot Etteldorf, in the Catholic faith. She cherished this faith throughout her life. At the end of her life, she was a member of Ave Maria Catholic Church in Ripley, Tennessee.
Eleanor was married to Warren Nunn for 55 years. They have two sons, Nick Nunn (Kara) and Chris Nunn (Kim), who live in Memphis. She and Warren have six grandchildren: Megan, Kristin, David Revelle II, Emily, William and Ben.
