Nursing is a dynamic, applied discipline and it is a great time to be a nurse. The nursing program at DSCC is a great place to begin your nursing career. Upon completion, a graduate will be equipped with the knowledge needed to assume the role of a registered nurse and succeed on the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nursing (NCLEX- RN).

Need to enter the job market quickly?

The Nursing Program graduate possesses the competencies necessary to assume the role of a beginning practitioner in a structured healthcare setting such as a hospital or extended care facility. The graduate is eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a Registered Nurse. High school students who are interested in pursuing a nursing degree are encouraged to take courses in biology, chemistry and mathematics.

Degree plan requirements for the Nursing concentration by catalog year:
2021-2022, 2020-2021, 2019-2020, 2018-2019, 2017-2018

Job Opportunities – Registered nurses work in hospitals, physicians’ offices, home healthcare services and nursing care facilities.

Traditional Nursing

DSCC offers the traditional nursing program on the main campus located in Dyersburg, Tennessee and also at the Jimmy Naifeh Center (JNC) at Tipton County located in Covington, Tennessee.

Application deadlines are as follows:
Dyersburg campus – March 1, classes begin in August
Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County – September 1, classes begin in January

Traditional Nursing – Evening Track

DSCC offers the traditional nursing program – evening track on the main campus located in Dyersburg, Tennessee and also at the Jimmy Naifeh Center (JNC) at Tipton County located in Covington, Tennessee. This track will admit 24 students every other year. Classes will meet two nights a week with clinicals either on Friday or Saturdays.

Application deadlines are as follows:

Dyersburg campus (beginning 2020) – May 15 every other year – Classes begin in August.
Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County (beginning 2023) – October 15 every other year – Classes begin in January.

Advanced Standing RN Fast Track Nursing

DSCC offers the Advanced Standing RN Fast Track Nursing Program on the main campus located in Dyersburg, Tennessee and also at the Jimmy Naifeh Center (JNC) at Tipton County in Covington, Tennessee.

Application deadlines are as follows:
Dyersburg campus (beginning 2025) – September 15 every other year – Classes begin in January
Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County (beginning 2025) – March 15 every other year – Classes begin in August.

Advanced Standing LPN-RN Fast Track

The LPN-RN Fast Track has been consolidated with the Paramedic-RN track to form the Advanced Standing RN Fast Track Nursing Program.

Paramedic-RN

The Paramedic-RN track has been consolidated with the LPN-RN Fast Track to form the Advanced Standing RN Fast Track Nursing Program.
