Nursing is a dynamic, applied discipline and it is a great time to be a nurse. The nursing program at DSCC is a great place to begin your nursing career. Upon completion, a graduate will be equipped with the knowledge needed to assume the role of a registered nurse and succeed on the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nursing (NCLEX- RN).

The Nursing Program graduate possesses the competencies necessary to assume the role of a beginning practitioner in a structured healthcare setting such as a hospital or extended care facility. The graduate is eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a Registered Nurse. High school students who are interested in pursuing a nursing degree are encouraged to take courses in biology, chemistry and mathematics.

Job Opportunities – Registered nurses work in hospitals, physicians’ offices, home healthcare services and nursing care facilities.
DSCC offers the traditional nursing program on the main campus located in Dyersburg, Tennessee and also at the Jimmy Naifeh Center (JNC) at Tipton County located in Covington, Tennessee.
Application deadlines are as follows:
Dyersburg campus - March 1, classes begin in August
Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County – September 1, classes begin in January
Advanced Standing LPN-RN Fast Track
DSCC also offers the Advanced Standing LPN-RN Fast Track Nursing Program at the Dyersburg campus. This program is designed for students who are actively practicing as an LPN to attend while employed. The LPN-RN Fast Track is a one-year program that begins in May and completes in May of the next year (three semesters).
Application deadline – December 31, classes beginning in May
DSCC offers the Paramedic-RN Nursing Program on the main campus located in Dyersburg, Tennessee and also at the Jimmy Naifeh Center (JNC) at Tipton County located in Covington, Tennessee. The Paramedic-RN Nursing Program is three semesters.
Applications deadlines are as follows:
Dyersburg campus – March 1, classes begin in August.
Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County – September 1, classes begin in January.
